Funny Quote Friday

I'm not sure if I'm planning on making this an actual scheduled post every week, but the title fit the little story I just had to share with you today.

Today, while I was sitting in the bedroom with C - He was cleaning out his room like he promised me he would (aka munching on the Banana Bread I made for him ) while was designing my own thank you cards for my upcoming graduation party (wasting time looking at pictures on facebook) - I casually mentioned that I got screwed in the family gene pool and I wish I had blue eyes (I have brownish/greenish eye - while my dad has baby blues). I think with my dark hair and dark skin (in the summer at least) it would look really nice.

C looked at me in shock, saying "Don't you ever say that, I love your eyes.... they're so white and then so brown".

Uhhhhh.... thanks? They're so white?!?! As if eyeballs are so many other colors? I guess I'll take what I can get and enjoy the fact that C notices the little things (like the whites of my eyes....).

Tagged!

Holy Moly - It's already Thursday!!! Time flies when you're effectively doing nothing all day (although I am proud to admit that I have gone to the gym!)! Since I have nothing fabulous to talk about, since I have done nothing fabulous.... I will finally put up a me me (is that what they're called??) Miss Type-A at In Good Faith was sweet enough to tag me for this fun little diddy, so here we go!

Rules: Answer all, replace if you don't like, and add one of your own; then tag others!

Current Obsession: Paul Newman's "Sweet Enough" Vanilla Almond cereal, seriously... SO good - I've been eating it for breakfast, lunch and dinner!!

Namesake: To be honest, I'm not sure how my parent's settled on my name - although it's a classic Irish name (a must since I'm 100% Irish), my dad had wanted to name me "Colleen" which my mom nixed... he also wanted to name me "Howie" is I was a boy soooo I guess it's a good think my mom was in control!

Favorite Dinner: Oh boy, such a hard question... but if it comes with amazing mashed potatoes and a side of yummy veggies (asparagus is my fav.) then I promise I will love it.

Most visited websites: facebook, google reader, fmylife (guilty pleasure), and my igoogle (which has news/weather/more brain-stimulating websites, I promise!)

Favorite Tea Flavor: Starbuck's Passion Tea (I'm with Miss Type-A on this one!)

Favorite Owned Jewelry: It's a tie between the Claddaugh that C bought my for our first Christmas together or the bracelet he bought me for my birthday 2 years ago (in this post)... I never take them off (minus a single incident with C's bathroom drain a few months ago...)

Favorite Beer: So hard... I'm actually really liking Sam Summer (C's Fav.) right now - with LOTS of lemon!

Listening To: TV - MTV's "teen cribs" is on and I'm horrible jealous of 17 year olds... great. (p.s. omg - this 15 year old girl has a pet BABY DEER that she keeps in her room - seriously?!)Bathroom cabinet holds: I don't have a bathroom cabs yet! but UNDER ths sink are tweezers, afrin (i'm always stuffy!), advil, moisturizer, make up, the usual.

If I could go anywhere in the next hour I would: Pick up C and we would go to Costa Risa for some awesome deep sea fishing!

Major Pet Peeves: SO many - when people are slow in front of you but there's not not enough room to pass them, when the shower curtain is left open, people who mumble (i'm deaf in my left ear - I have ENOUGH trouble understanding you...), oh! and when C purposely annoys me because he "thinks I'm cute when I get mad" - doesn't he understand this only makes me MORE mad... AT HIM

Favorite flavor of gum: spearmint! I only chew a half piece at a time though because it makes my mouth too saliva-y (TMI?)

Five Year Plan: go to law school, graduate law school, get a job I like enough to pay off my horrible student loans, get married, move to Cape Cod

Something that always makes me smile: C's Laugh

Today is special because: I slept until 11 - whoops!!!
Where I blog: anywhere I want with my lovely new laptop!

My perfect (regular) day: have a GREAT night's sleep (the kind where even though you wake up early, you're not tired), banana pancakes with C (he would make these for me because he's AWESOME at making pancakes - I'm too impatient and flip them too soon, ruining them), fishing in the early afternoon, home to clean up and then a relaxing dinner on the porch of C's cottage before a night out with friends! (Obv. the weather would be BEAUTIFUL and I would get a fab tan)

If you have unlimited money, what's one out-of-the-ordinary thing you would do with it: I would never wear the same pair of sock twice - I LOVE fresh socks!

I tag anyone who wants to play!!! I am usually the last one to get these things, so I always have a little panic attack when I have to tag ladies, since odds are they've already done it. hmph...

Weekend Update!

Hi All! As you may have guessed from my lack of posting, I had a great and BUSY weekend! It started off Thursday night when C came home from school after a week long Coast Guard Exam... my baby is now CAPTAIN C!!!!!!! He passed with flying colors and all of his supper hard work paid off! He's so smart and I am so proud of him - these tests were H.A.R.D. and he got 90s and 100s on all of them! Weee!

We had planned to have a little date night, but after making a late dinner at 7, we realized that all the close theaters on Cape were closed! We opted for a night in and we watched Slumdog Millionaire and munched on strawberries dipped in chocolate pudding (yum!). I have heard some of my bloggy friends didn't like Slumdog - I really liked it!

Friday, I finally began living up to my "Jigging" in J.Crew namesake. C and I went on our first real fishing trip of our Cape Cod summer! We took the canoe out and went fishing for Larrys (largemouth bass)(alright, so there was no actual jigging, but that was really just for the alliteration, it should really just be fishing in j.crew)! and we SLAMMED them! Seriously, my thumb was all scuffed up from removing so many hooks from their mouths!

Please excuse the goofy white sunglasses - yes, there were $2.00 and yes, I know they are lop-sided and unflattering - instead, focus on the lunker I'm holding!!!!

C's biggest catch of the day.... Just Kidding! he actually had some awesome Larrys, but I'm not going to post them because I am still convinced I caught the biggest one (hehe C's probably reading this...)

After fishing I had to work the Cocktail Waitressing shift at the LDP (where I'm working this summer). Can I just say, I STILL love my job! I had a ton of fun with the people who were working - the bartenders and door men are awesome! PLUS C came to visit! Weeeee! I felt bad because all of his friends were at school so he didn't have anyone to talk to, but at least he got some coconut shrimp!!

Saturday I worked the lunch shift (where I kind of got screwed)... however, it was all made better by the amazing dinner that C's parents took us out for (to celebrate Captain C's Coast Guard Exams and my graduation). We went to this adorable little authentic Italian restaurant, Bucas, in Harwich - if any of you are on Cape this summer and looking for somewhere special to have dinner, I HIGHLY recommend making a reservation! C and I shared the grilled brushcetta (YUM) followed by my dish of organic grilled chicken with grilled polenta (I have never had polenta before and I LOVED it!). And of course what celebration would be complete without dessert?!? Luckily, C's mom has a huge sweet tooth like me and C indulged too! We all got something different so we could nibble at each others - I had the dark chocolate Italian Wedding Cake, C's mom had the amaretto gelato and C had the sampler - cream puffs, a mini cannoli and almond cake!!! Weee!

Sunday was work for me and studying for C - unfortunately he's in school until the end of JUNE (UGH!). I do not envy him, but at least now that the Coastie's are over, he will have a lot more time to play :o)

Wow! This turned into a LONG post! I'll end it on the note that today, after a long weekend full of fun and work, I slept until 11!!! I am promising myself that I will get something done today... but it's already almost 1... shoot! Bye bye ladies!

Healthy U - Healthy Me

So, I recently joined a gym while I'm no the Cape for the Summer and this morning, after enduring a hardcore aerobics class (more on that later...) I figured I'd wake up early for another class, called Healthy U and based on light aerobics and stretching. I thought this would be a good way to avoid being sore later on today.... welp, when I showed up today, bright and early at 7am, my class looked like this:

No. Lie. I was in a senior aerobics class (no, not senior as in "wow, you're so advanced in skill and technique you should be in a senior class" senior as in "wow, you're so advanced in AGE, you should be in a senior class"). I couldn't help at laugh at myself while I marched it out with everyone at least 40 years older than me (well, I couldn't just leave - wouldn't that have been rude?). Let me tell you though... those seniors could move!! I ended up having a good time :o)

I'm so Tired!!!

So, I think the lack of sleep I have gotten in the last month of college is finally catching up with me now that I graduated.... plus I've been working my new summer job everyday since I graduated. Today is my first day off! (yay!!!) and of course it's raining on Cape (booo!!).. time for some Spring cleaning then! I'm going to dust and windex C's house for his mom while she's at work today.

I'm excited for today because I'm going to sign up at a new Yoga place that opened up right down the street from C's house!! I've been dying to get a gym membership but there's nothing really close to C's house, and I know if it's not super convenient then I won't go... This new yoga place is only like a mile away though! My plan is to run there, do a class (they have all sorts of yoga and pilates) and then run home - a pretty good work out, right? I hope so... my new summer job includes free food everytime I work and it's gooooooood (aka I am in extreme danger of eating vast amounts each shift so I need to get my butt in gear and start exercising!).

In more exciting news, I ran to Hyannis today to stop at Old Navy and get some cheapy Bermuda shorts to wear to work in the nice weather (running around waiting on people makes a girl HOT and I'm pretty sure that running around with your food dripping in sweat is not the way to make good tips - sorry for the super gross image, hehe)... with Old Navy being thisclose to the Cape Cod Mall and the Cape Cod Mall being home to the closest J.Crew around, I clearly stopped in and I am SO GLAD I did!!! I've been wanting to build up my summer dress collection and happened upon this adorable dress.... for $16.99!!!!!!!!!! (with my student discount on top of the sale price)

I KNOW... fabulous, right?!?! I was SO EXCITED. However, I was also slightly sad when the sales associate told me that they are no longer letting us students combine our 15% off on sale items - booooo!!!! I LIVE for the days that they have 30% off their sale items and I swoop in with my extra 15%!!!! It's how I've afforded all of my J.Crew to begin with! Of course I will soldier on and thankfully, the wonderful girl who checked me out allowed me to so it One (sniffle) Last (sniffle) Time (sob..) . Keep this in mind all my fellow students and run to J.Crew for YOUR one last time!!!!!

Lastly, I hope all of my fellow blog ladies (and gents?) who are going through finals/impending graduation are doing well, staying on task, and getting sleep! Summer is almost here! Stay Strong!!!!!!!!

I have picked a winner!!! Thank you all for your wonderful entries and I loved hearing about all of your awesome summer plans! I was so excited to see such a great response to my first ever giveaway, so thank you all for reading and entering.

I did this drawing the 'old fashioned' way since I don't know how to use that random number generator thingy and it was easier to write everyones entries on little slips of paper while watching TV ;o) Unfortunately, since my camera is currently out of commission (C's mom took pictures of the jewelry), I can't show you all my hard work but an episode of Grey's Anatomy later, I picked the winner! So congrats to...

E-mail me soon, MRM, and I'll get started on your earrings! Maybe you have a favorite summer outfit or a special dress you want to have earrings for? Let me know :o)
And now... for the EVEN MORE EXCITING NEWS.... I couldn't just stop at one giveaway! So I picked another winner!!!!
If memory serves me correctly, Kate is very lucky when it comes to giveaways... girl, what's your secret!?! Kate will be going on what seems like an AWESOME cruise this summer - SO exciting!!! E-mail me soon with your favorite colors/earring preferences and I will get to work - perhaps something to wear on the cruise?? ;o)

WOW!!!

Wow, everyone!!! I'm SO excited so many people have already shown interest in my first ever blog giveaway!!! To reward all you early entries and to entice those who have yet you enter, I'm going to tell you what I'm giving away...

I may or may not have mentioned before that C's mom makes the most gorgeous jewelry in her spare time and sells it in the break room at her work... I totally think she needs to get herself an Etsy store, since she has the most beautiful handmade jewelry and I know people (like my reader lovelies!) would totally scoop up her stuff (she doesn't charge nearly enough!) Well, with the economy the way it is, her normal buyers can no longer indulge themselves or their jewelry habit, so she came up with an AWESOME new idea... Beading Parties!!! Like tupperware parties but so. much. better.

She takes small groups of students and lets them loose in her dining room where she has set up a mini classroom, complete with a TON of beads for them to choose from (including pearls, crystals, etc, etc) and teaches them how to string, crimp, and curl their way to a handmade piece of jewelry! She has had one class so far and it was a huge success... This weekend I sat down in her "classroom" with her while she made some earrings, and I decided to make my own! Here is a picture of my earrings:

SOOOOOO.... for the giveaway, one lucky winner will be recieving a pair of earrings CUSTOM MADE BY ME! Start thinking of your favorite summer outfit or special occasion because I can quite literally fulfill your wildest dreams! Dangles, multiple strands, simple, sparkly, pearly, funky, bright, neutral - it's all up to you! I hope you're excited! I am!!!
*** In other news, I'm off tomorrow to the La Dolce Vita salon in Boston to turn in my Groupon for a Hair cut, blow dry, mani, pedi and brow wax --- all for only $59.00!!!! I'm excited for my day of pampering! Were any of my readers able to take advantage of this FAB Groupon I posted about?? I really hope so!
